Growing

She was created after taking the South African landrace, Durban, and crossing it with our fastest flowering Skunk. The result is a hybrid that expresses more sativa dominance, however with a much shorter flowering time of 9 weeks maximum. We were able to enhance the best of both parents and create the ultimate hybrid.

Indoor

This lady likes to grow tall, with large fan leaves that grow with long serrated fingers and thin woody branching. Despite her sativa heritage and her desire to be naturally tall, she is easy to grow and is well recommended to beginner growers who want to try a sativa dominant hybrid that is not too demanding time or skill-wise.

Outdoor

Outdoors, in a hot climate is where Durban Poison really thrives however, thanks to her fast flowering time of only 9 weeks, she is a brilliant cultivar for all weather. Growers who experience a short summer will benefit greatly, from growing outside. Plant in a South-facing location in springtime and harvests in the middle of October, or earlier in some cases.

Fungal resistance

Durban Poison Feminized does a good job of keeping insects and pests away and is also very resistant to heat stress and drought conditions. This cultivar is well advised for growers living in a Mediterranean climate that experience excessively hot temperatures during the summer.

Flowering time

Indoor

Flowering time will range from 8-9 weeks depending on the phenotype, meaning Durban Poison Feminized is a fast flowering cultivar ideal for commercial growers.

Most sativas will require at least 10 weeks before being ready, so you can rest assured Durban Poison seeds will shave a week or two off that!

Outdoor

We advise taking her for 60-65 days outdoors, depending on the climate. Also, it allows the terpenes and cannabinoids to fully mature and develop.

Yield

Indoor

Yields of 450 g/m² (1.5 oz per square foot) can be expected indoors when grown under HID lighting and fed nutrients. It is possible to increase yields further with longer vegetative times if growing in a large-sized container, such as 50-100 liters (11-22 gallons).

Outdoor

When left to grow as big as possible with some training applied, Durban Poison Feminized can produce yields of 750 grams (26.5 oz) per plant.

Plant height & structure

The average height this lady will stretch to is 150 cm (59 inches). Her resin-coated buds will become compact, and elongated and fill every branch from head to toe. The height can easily be controlled by tying plants down before flowering.

Training

Thanks to her sativa, dominance training such as LST and topping can turn this lady into a wide bushy plant that has side branches emerging from everywhere. We advise this cultivar to beginner growers who want to be more hands-on with their plants and apply low-stress and high-stress techniques with a tough and sturdy cultivar.

Smell, taste and effect

Her aroma can be described as pungent, with coffee beans, anise, and pepper with sour overtones. The flavour is unique and a blend of sweet earthy with anise that has a chocolate aftertaste that when smoked as an extract is really intensified. Her terpene profile is very complex, with a spiced liquorice aftertaste when smoking that coats the lips like anise lip balm. Durban Poison Feminized is very different from the modern-day cultivars and expresses landrace and Skunk lineage perfectly well.

The effects of this strain are immediate, and long-lasting, with a trippy cerebral edge. She will kick-start the mind and have it racing in all directions, allowing intense levels of focus, motivation, and energy with a major creative influence. Smoking Durban Poison Feminized as your morning joint will stimulate the mind into a state of blissful euphoria followed by a soaring, fast-paced trippiness.

This girl is well suited for social scenarios, expressing deep thoughts, philosophizing, long walks, and preparing for exercise or a busy workday, without any unwanted feelings of anxiety or restlessness. The perfect strain to accompany a cup of hot coffee for busy working professionals!
